## *CHRONIQUE EXPRESS*

Le premier EP de Lilly Wood and the Prick, malicieusement appelé *Lilly Who and the What ?*, est lancé de belle manière avec un premier titre, *Down the drain*, composé en 2007, soit près de deux ans avant la sortie de l'album. Il faut dire que l'electro-rock de ce premier titre est redoutablement efficace à défaut d'être original dans la jungle des groupes mariant guitares et claviers. Étonnamment Lilly Wood abandonne cette voie royale dès le deuxième morceau, *Water ran*, pour s'engager dans un registre pop-folk agrémenté de vaporeuses plages de synthé. La voix délicieusement grinçante de la chanteuse nous guide ainsi le long de vastes plateaux de plus en plus apaisants (*Go slow*) où les mélodies chaloupées se joignent aux chœurs gospel (*Little Johnny*) pour encadrer les mantras entêtants des refrains (*This is a love song*). Pour un coup d'essai, *Lilly Who and the What ?* est presque un coup de maître, et les 5 titres originaux, plus une reprise de Santigold (*L.E.S. Artistes*) sont de bonne augure pour la suite.
